There are six main types of Maryland homeowners insurance, which are based around both the type of dwelling you are insuring and the additional entities you are insuring.

First and foremost are types A and B. Type A homeowners insurance is for dwellings and it is designed to pay for the replacement or repair of your home after a disaster. Type B actually covers detached structures such as sheds or garages.

Types C and D deal with loss of property or of property use. In Type C, insurance covers the contents of a house such a fine valuables, stereos, television, furniture and other consumer goods. In contrast, type D is the “loss of use” coverage. This can help to pay for your hotel or other accommodations while your home is being reconstructed.

Type E is personal liability protection. Under this protection you have a level of financial protection from litigation when someone is injured on your property. Type F, which is also known as MedPay, offers coverage for injuries a person has incurred on your property when that person is not directly involved in a lawsuit with you or your family.

Making sure your Maryland homeowners insurance plan is comprehensive may be one of the best things you can do for the financial security of your family. Contact an agent today to get the coverage you need.
